Dec. 14th, 2014 07:52 amKatarl "Kats" Blazefur is a teenaged Ferrin boy of above average intelligence with a talent for computers and robotics.
He was raised on his home planet of Farra with his older sister Kathryn "Kitty" Blazefur. Their parents were in good standing among the ruling class of the planet, their father a talented field medic in the military while his mother worked for a prestigious technology company.
As such due to their good social standing and intelligence they were admitted into a prestigious private school located on a traveling space station. The school would collect students from various planets to bring them together in a community with hopes to celebrate unity and the sort of world that can be created from mixing all kinds of beliefs and traditions.
Unfortunately where the school excelled in education it fell short on social skills and Kats in particular was picked on by a great number of bullies. It was one such bully that shoved him into an escape pod and launched him into orbit around Farra as the Space Station had returned to the Ferrin homeworld for the first time in two years.
Kats contacted Kitty who took matters into her own hands as she was known to do. Stealing a maintenance shuttle she intercepted the pod and docked with it just in time to become witness to the destruction of her homeworld.
Kats and Kitty watched in confusion and horror as a ship appeared out of the darkness of space. Almost impossible to see with the naked eye. But silhouetted by Farra's moon they could make out the hull of a craft half the size of their planet and covered in twinkling starlike light.
The ship fired some sort of energy beam into Farra and the planet itself burst from the inside scattering chunks in all directions and knocking the escape pod spinning.
The last thing Kats can recall was seeing a chunk of the planet smash through the school, then he was out cold.
Kats and his sister drifted in that pod for days before their distress signal was picked up by a scouting ship that was investigating the massive surge of energy that was the destruction of Farra. The scouting ship took them on board and brought them back to it's home ship "The Crimson Silk."
Kats and Kitty were soon to discover they had not been picked up by some good Samaritans but in fact one of the most infamous pirate crews in space. In fact the pilot of the scouting craft had been none other then "Othelo Jones" Infamous criminal wanted for the single handed destruction of half a planets population and countless other crimes. (Both the Ferrins were surprised as in person he seemed so likable and goofy.)
With no where to go and no one to turn to, the Ferrin's took up jobs among the crew. Kats as their IT support and Kitty as the ships medic. A year of adventures with the crew has passed and despite the danger they constantly put him in, Kats has grown to think of the crew as family.
